Dinosaur porn and daddy issues are the central themes of this hilarious and quintessentially queer podcast.

Presented by stand-up comedians Sofie Hagen and Jodie Mitchell Secret Dinosaur Cult basically uses dinosaur behaviours to explore the human experience. And they do this from an intersectional feminist, queer/non-binary, fat-positive perspective. It’s fantastic.

The podcasts or ‘cult meetings’ are recorded live, with an audience and this is one of my favourite things about it. Theres something so intimate about hearing the interaction between the hosts and the audience, you can tell its recorded in such a friendly, queer-positive space. It's amazing that just by putting some headphones on you can be there too, in the scaly, empowering, embrace of dino acceptance.

It starts with the ‘Terrible Person’ segment where Sofie and Jodie each explain a time that they were a really terrible person (very relatable) and continues with the ‘Daddy Hole’ segment where they both discuss their daddy issues (very, very relatable).

Towards the end of the podcast, Sofie and Jodie introduce the ‘bedtime story’ otherwise known as dinosaur erotica (a very real thing, apparently). Here they read from published works or from fan submissions. I think it's just one of those things you have to hear to understand but trust me it's the sort of thing that will have you laughing out loud on the bus.

Confused? Thats fair, but I highly recommend giving it a listen or going to one of their live recordings, and enjoying it for what it is - a hilarious, weird, queer and educational podcast hug.
